It is everyone’s responsibility to plan for personal safety and disaster recovery. Our region has limited emergency resources. In a major disaster, there will be delays in receiving emergency help. A well-prepared neighbourhood will be better able to help those in need. View our resources below to help you make a plan:
The qathet Regional Emergency Program has developed eight community evacuation guides as a result of the communities’ input at our Community Evacuation Planning meetings held in spring and summer of 2019. These guides will help you prepare your own household emergency plan.
Community evacuation guides will be available at the qathet Regional District, Tla’amin Nation and City of Powell River offices, as well as online at qathet.ca. Guides have also been distributed to various businesses and organizations throughout the region.
The Regional Emergency Program would like to thank first responders, community members and staff for their input. In the event of an emergency, all residents and organizations are critical public safety partners including individuals, front-line responders, businesses, volunteer groups and governments. Everyone’s preparedness is essential.
