Haywire Bay Regional Park Campground Set to Open for 37th Camping Season on May 8, 2026
qathet, B.C. – The qathet Regional District is pleased to welcome visitors to Haywire Bay Park Campground, located on the scenic southeast shore of Powell Lake, approximately seven kilometres from the City of Powell River. The family-friendly park will open for the campground’s 37th season on Friday, May 8, 2026. Haywire Bay Regional Park is staffed during the camping season by an on-site caretaker, who is available to assist visitors and help ensure a safe and enjoyable park experience.
The park features a wide range of amenities, including 49 individual RV and tent campsites, two group campsites accommodating up to 10 units, and a cozy cabin equipped with bunk beds, a table, and chairs. Visitors can also enjoy piped drinking water, dry pit toilets, coin-operated showers, firewood sales, a boat ramp for small vessels, a playground, a lakeside pavilion with a grilling pit, and two swimming beaches. Accessible facilities, including a wheelchair-friendly campsite and outhouse, are also available.
Camping at Haywire Bay park operates on a first-come, first-served basis for individual sites, while group sites and the cabin can be reserved up to one year in advance. The park offers affordable overnight rates, with individual sites priced at $30 per night, group sites at $200 per night (for up to 10 units), and the cabin at $60 per night. Additional amenities such as showers and firewood are available for nominal fees. All prices include applicable taxes.
Visitors are reminded that the park’s vehicle access gate is locked nightly between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for safety and security. In case of emergency, the on-site caretaker can provide access.
The park enforces a maximum stay of 14 consecutive nights, with check-in and check-out at 1:00 p.m. Guests are also encouraged to follow pet guidelines, ensuring animals are leashed at all times and kept off beach areas.
