What are Advisory Committees?
The qathet Regional District has established advisory committees as a means of seeking input from the community on key services, issues or projects. Advisory committees are made up of volunteers and provide advice to the Board. These are not decision-making bodies. Volunteers serve, unpaid, for term durations as specified in each Committee’s Terms of Reference. To view the qathet Regional District’s active advisory committees, please click here.
What are Commissions?
Regional district Boards may establish commissions to help manage workload and provide input on operational matters. Commissions are commonly used to operate regional district services, carry out enforcement related to the regional district’s regulatory authority, and manage property or interests in property owned by the regional district.
The qathet Regional District has two commissions that service Texada Island. These are the Texada Island Recreation Commission (view establishing Bylaw) and the Texada Island Community Heritage Commission (view establishing Bylaw).
