Crowther Road wildfire (V50401) response update

Okeover, BC – The qathet Regional District is advising the public that the Crowther Road fire remains held, with crews continuing to work on site. BC Wildfire Service is assisting with air support, including bucketing operations on inaccessible areas of the slope, and has provided fallers to address hazardous trees.

Residents in the Crowther Road area are advised there may be power outages this afternoon due to danger trees located along the power line.

This remains an active fire site, and the public is asked to avoid the area to ensure clear access for emergency and hydro crews.

The main access road is open to local traffic only to allow residents to reach their properties.

“On behalf of the qathet Regional District, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to all responding fire departments and BC Wildfire Service for their dedication, teamwork, and professionalism,” said Ryan Thoms, General Manager of Emergency Services. “Incidents like this are a powerful reminder of our first responder’s critical role in keeping our communities safe. I would also like to thank the public for their cooperation in avoiding the affected area. Your understanding and support allow our crews to carry out their work safely and effectively.”
