BC Hydro: Planned Power Outages on May 24 and June 7 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
As part of the Jervis Inlet and Agamemnon Channel Power Line Replacement Project, BC Hydro is upgrading the transmission system serving approximately 10,000 customers in Powell River and surrounding communities.
Some of the system upgrade work planned for this spring can only be completed when the power lines arede-energized. For the safety of BC Hydro crews, they will need to turn off power for two 12‑hour periods:
Where: Powell River, Lund, Cortes Island, Texada Island, and Saltery Bay.
When: Sunday, May 24 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday, June 7 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
BC Hydro crews will also complete system maintenance during these outages to help maintain safe and reliable power and to prevent potential unplanned emergency outages in the future.
