Gillies Bay Tennis and Pickleball Courts Receive Professional Resurfacing

qathet, BC – Recreational court users in Gillies Bay are enjoying a significantly improved playing experience following the completion of a professional court resurfacing project in late July, adding approximately eight years to the life to the court structure.

 

The project included the resurfacing of the community courts, and repainting both the tennis and pickleball lines. The project was completed on time and on budget, with financial support provided through a grant from the Powell River Community Forest.

 

The professional acrylic resurfacing enhances court performance, improves player comfort and safety, and refreshes the overall appearance of the facility. Beyond the immediate benefits to players, the new surface also helps protect the underlying asphalt from damage caused by ultraviolet exposure and moisture infiltration.

 

“The finished product looks fantastic and is already generating enthusiasm for exercise, fitness and friendly competition on the courts,” said Patrick Devereaux, General Manager of Operational Services. “Many thanks to the Powell River Community Forest for putting money back into the communities that we play and recreate in. These considerate awards assist in relieving expenses and taxes to maintain this infrastructure.”
