New Columbarium Walls Installed at Powell River (Cranberry) Regional Cemetery
qathet, B.C. – The qathet Regional District (qRD) has successfully completed the installation of three new columbarium walls at the Powell River Regional (Cranberry) Cemetery, expanding memorial options for residents and families in the community.
The project follows a motion passed by the Board at its November 26, 2025 meeting approving a capital expenditure of $145,800 in the 2026/27 Cemetery budget for the purchase and installation of the new columbarium structures.
Installation was completed on April 13, 2026, with the project remaining on time and on budget.

“Our cemeteries are deeply personal places where people come to remember, reflect, and honour loved ones,” said Clay Brander, qathet Regional Board Chair. “The new columbaria ensures we can continue to provide dignified, accessible options for families.”
