Malaspina Volunteer Fire Department Announces Retirement of Chief Dave Keiver After 46 Years of Exemplary Service

qathet, BC – The Malaspina Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) bids farewell to Fire Chief Dave Keiver who announced his retirement after a volunteer career spanning over four and a half decades. Chief Keiver’s dedication, and commitment to public safety have left an unforgettable mark on the south end community and entire region.

 

Throughout his tenure, Chief Keiver has been a point of guidance for the MVFD, promoting the values of service, bravery, and selflessness. His passion for firefighting and his tireless efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of his crew and residents have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Under his watch, the MVFD has consistently upheld its commitment to saving lives and protecting property.

 

Reflecting on his remarkable journey, Chief Keiver expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve alongside dedicated firefighters and volunteers, stating, “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve our community for 46 years. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together, and I am grateful for the unwavering support of my colleagues, friends, and family throughout this incredible journey. I am very proud of this fire department and am sure that it will continue to serve the community with distinction.”

The MVFD is committed to ensuring a seamless transition and maintaining the highest standards of service excellence in Chief Keiver’s absence. Deputy Chief Bill Ashworth will step up to the role of Acting Fire Chief beginning May 1st, until a permanent replacement is determined.
