Self-Haul Organics Pilot Program Ends August 31, 2025
On September 1st, 2025, the Self-Haul Organics Program transitioned out of the pilot phase.
Food Waste under 10kg continues to be accepted for FREE at two Recycling Depot locations:
- Food Waste (under 10kg) can be brought to the Resource Recovery Centre Recycling Depot (4924 Marine Ave) Monday to Saturday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Food Waste (under 10kg) can be brought to the Tla’amin Recycling Depot (near the Salish Centre) Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Food Waste (over 10kg), Yard Waste*, and Commingled Food & Yard Waste* are accepted at the Resource Recovery Centre Transfer Station, subject to applicable fees:

*Invasive plants and branches over 2 inches in diameter cannot be included in Yard Waste or Commingled Food & Yard Waste. The 2 cubic yard limit for Yard Waste will no longer apply.
Organics in the City of Powell River
The City of Powell River provides weekly curbside garbage, organics, and recycling collection. Schedules are available on the City’s website or pick up a hard copy at City Hall.
