The Savary Island Official Community Plan review and update project is now at the end of Phase 4 of the five phase planning process. The purpose of this project is to review and update the Savary Island Official Community Plan 2006 (PDF) to provide a refreshed vision, goals, objectives, and policies that reflect current values and needs of the community.

An Official Community Plan (OCP) sets out a long-term vision for a community and establishes community goals and policies for achieving that vision. An OCP provides a policy framework to guide land use and development decision-making of the regional district, other government agencies, and landowners.

Phase 5 – Approval Process

Phase 5 is the “Approval Process” phase and marks the final phase of the planning process. Key activities will include a newsletter mail out to all property owners, on-island community engagement events, and a survey to gather feedback on the draft Plan. The Plan will then be further refined based on community feedback, and considered at a public hearing prior to final adoption of the bylaw by the Regional Board.

Savary Island Community Plan Advisory Committee

Between January and April, your Savary Island Community Plan Advisory Committee has been providing comment to refine the draft Official Community Plan.
